Lights!Climate!Action! was formed in the summer of 2019 and took the lead in organising the climate marches in Kilkenny. In October 2020, the group partnered up with the Savour Kilkenny food festival and acted as the climate champions for the event.

Over 50 young people stood by the bins over the entire weekend advising people on what could be composted, recycled and what needed to go to general waste. The reaction from the public was profound – firstly because these were really inspiring young people braving the cold and doing a difficult and unglamourous job but also because it was a huge eye opener for people to see where their waste goes.

The young people also organised recycling workshops leading up to this event in our youth centre.
